A quick post to share a decadent meal I was lucky enough to be served yesterday at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, CA. Once a year, I play in a ladies’ golf tournament where there is plenty of competition but mostly it is about having fun with friends, enjoying the outdoors, and eating and drinking as much as you’d like. No matter the theme, the luncheon at the end is always a great meal served to us like we are queens (which we pretend we are for three days). This year was no exception. So I took a few pictures with my blackberry phone (you’ll have to excuse the quality). For those of you who enjoy creativity in food presentation, you will really enjoy these pictures, especially the dessert.
We started with a lobster salad served in a martini glass. I thought the presentation was beautiful with the string of yellow pepper on the top and the crunchy cracker tucked in the side. It was filled with succulent chunks of lobster with a surprise of creamy avocado at the bottom.
The next course was an artistic salad with a light oil and vinegar dressing. It looked too pretty to eat but once you cut into it, it spread out on your plate like a nice serving of greens. Refreshing.
The main course was a lightly crusted and perfectly cooked piece of sea bass served with another artistic presentation of vegetables held together by a carefully carved out “napkin ring” of carrot and a light and lemony rice pilaf side.
But the dessert was over-the-top terrific. It looked exactly like a coffee cup filled with foamy cappuccino. But it wasn’t! It was a chocolate coffee cup filled with tiramisu, dusted with chocolate, topped with a chocolate coin imprinted with the golf club logo and as a finishing touch – a perfectly shaped chocolate spoon.
Truly an OMG! Yummy finish to a fantastic 3 days of decadent indulgence and fantastic golf!
