8th Grade Graduation Thursday

High School Graduation Set-up Sunday

And that is what I call a graduation sandwich!

How it comes together: Tomorrow, my youngest teen graduates from 8th grade, or as her English teacher reminds them – it’s just a promotion. Regardless of the moniker, after tomorrow, I will officially have two kids in high school!

BlogHerFood 12 conference in SeattleFriday morning I head off to Seattle to the BlogHerFood conference for the third time but the first time speaking on a panel! I couldn’t be more excited to join four talented bloggers and writers to discuss the topic: Food Bloggers as Storytellers: Telling Your Own Stories, and the Stories of Those at the Table. The panel moderator is Rebekah Denn, a newspaper food journalist from Seattle; Tori Avey, the voice behind the blog A Shiksa in the Kitchen; Melissa Crane, a food blogger and photographer, and Molly Wizenberg who started writing her highly-acclaimed food blog Orangette before I even knew what a blog was and also the author of the delightful book A Homemade Life. Wow – how lucky am I to share the panel with this talented group!

If you want to follow the conversation from our session (which starts at 10:45 on Sat June 9) or any of the sessions from the conference follow the hashtag #blogherfood on Twitter. And you can find the whole agenda for the conference here.

On Sunday, I fly home early to help set up the graduation for my son’s high school. No, he’s not graduating yet but his school’s tradition asks the junior class to run the graduation so in turn, when our kids are graduating, we are free of any responsibilities and can just enjoy the show. I volunteered to work on this committee before they had even announced the date for BlogHerFood.

Because that’s not enough excitement for me, as a side dish to the graduation sandwich, I am making some changes to my blog – you’ll see more in the coming weeks but for now I hope you like my new header which came about when I was playing with flour and check out my new summary page: A Taste of OMG! Yummy.

I’ll be back next week with lots of inspirational stories that I’ve been waiting to tell and new ones that I’m sure I’ll uncover while I enjoy my graduation sandwich.

Thanks for listening to my stories and continuing to share yours!
