Homemade Pie Crust

OMGYummy.com

Do you tremble at the thought of making pie crusts. Have no fear. You'll be a pro with this homemade refrigerated pie crust recipe with step-by-step directions.

Here are the ingredients you need to make pie dough: flour, butter, sugar, salt and ice water. I use a stand mixer but you can even just use your hands!

Cube your butter (you can even do this ahead of time) and keep it refrigerated until you are ready to make your crusts.

1

Mix the dry ingredients together – the flour, salt and sugar in the bowl of your stand mixer using a whisk or the paddle attachment.

2

Add the butter cubes to the flour mixture and let the mixer work its magic. You’ll see varying pea sized pieces emerge.

3

Add ice water. Put a pinch of dough between your fingers and feel the texture. If it’s still sandy or not staying together, add more water a tablespoon at a time.

4

With the right amount of ice water, the dough will come together in a ball-like form and then it is ready to refrigerate and rest.

5

Divide the dough into two pieces and form a rough disk with each one. Wrap it up and refrigerate until ready to use - up to 3 days.

6

You now have dough ready to go when you are. You can also freeze the dough and keep for at least a month!
