The Best Fruit Compote Recipe

Berry fruit compote, made with fresh or frozen fruit, is perfect for pancakes, yogurt, ice cream or just to eat as a dessert all on its own. Mix and match berries for a simple tasty treat.

Fruit compote ingredients are simple and flexible - change the fruit, citrus, sweetener every time you make it!

Slice your fresh fruit or measure your frozen berries and place them in a medium saucepan along with the sweetener, citrus juice and zest and vanilla.


On medium heat, let the mixture come to a boil then let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Taste for sweetness and flavor.


Let the compote cool down a bit - it will thicken up as it does. Then serve on pancakes or yogurt or cake or ice cream!


The compote comes out a little different every time, depending on the fruit and citrus. Sometimes I just want to eat it all on its own!
