Sukkot Recipes
If you celebrate Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, you probably also look forward to Sukkot five days later. Sukkot celebrates the fall harvest and the temporary structures (sukkahs) the Israelites built while wandering through the desert for 40 years.
For those who build a temporary sukkah structure and eat outside during the week of Sukkot, it's nice to have fall-influenced warming dishes to serve. Soups such as this butternut squash soup or barley mushroom welcome the fall weather and produce.
An iconic fall fruit is the pomegranate so be sure to check out all of my pomegranate recipes but this fig salad with pomegranate dressing is one of my favorites.
Clementines are probably making a showing about now, so think about this roasted clementine chicken for a main course. Make enough for plenty of leftovers. Or try these stuffed peppers -- stuffed foods are often eaten under the sukkah.
For dessert, try this roasted fruit - serve it on its own or over a piece of honey cake or ice cream. The fruit can change as the varieties change at your local market.
